One of the first cooking schools of its kind, founded by famous author and cookbook writer Lorenza de Medici over 20 years ago, the Badia a Coltibuono cooking school provides an idyllic setting where guests can learn the secrets of authentic regional Italian cuisine.
The cooking courses are held from March to November, and offer a splendid chance to immerse oneself in the unique lifestyle and hospitality of a 1000 years old abbey while savouring the fantastic tastes and sights that this beautiful region offers.
The lessons are taught in English by our chef, who has a natural easy going style and a hand’s on approach. Guests will bring back great authentic Italian recipes and menus to be used year round for all occasions and the memories of an unforgettable experience.
Upon request and for preformed group of a minimum of 6 persons, we can arrange French, Spanish, German, Japanese traslation service.

Cooking classes at Coltibuono with Benedetta’s cooking
Badia a Coltibuono’s cooking classes are currently led by Benedetta Vitali, a Florentine chef, co-founder of “Cibreo” restaurant with Fabio Picchi, and then of “Zibibbo” from 1999. She is the author of a few cookbooks, in Italy and in the USA. Benedetta has always prepared food that is healthy and delicious, working with local and environmentally friendly ingredients.
Benedetta has a simple and friendly approach, and  involves the participants in a fun and formative activity, teaching them the tecniques and preparations of some classic tuscan dishes. Tuscan cuisine is recognized everywhere for its simplicity and healthfulness, achieved through the artful but simple transformation of the best ingredients.
Vegetarian recipes will have a central part in her menus. The vegetable and herb garden, the great resource of tuscan cuisine, will have a major role. Healthy food that is also delicious.
